I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.
I entered the cycling community in 1983 in Hawaii racing under the United State Cycling Federation (USCF). Juniors fields were limited in Hawaii, so I found myself riding with the Senior fields. Moving from Hawaii to Japan, allowed me to gain some international experience and upon returning back to the United States, with a lot of hard work and many hours on the road became strong enough to turn Professional at the young age of 18 and move to Europe. I was able to secure a contract with Westwood Pro Cycling based in Antwerp, Belgium. This is where I first met my teammate Johny Macharis, Little did I know, he would eventually establish in 1996 with Scot Crowell, Firefighter Cycling.
Why do this?
- I believe in order to have a strong cycling community, It all starts with Junior and rider development.
- Bringing awareness to first responder health and fitness.
Goals for a successful team:
- Redevelopment of U-23 National Team and our Elite Master’s Program.
- Re-establishing our Regional Clubs & Teams across the country, to continue the growth of our sport, through awareness, coaching, mentorship, junior development, and club events.
I look forward to meeting, riding and working with all of you, while we move forward to progress juniors to their next level in cycling.
